Ślady przeszłości

Ja i moi koledzy urodziliśmy się w 2000 r. Chodzimy do klasy klasycznej w XI Liceum Ogólnokształcącym im. Mikołaja Reja, które znajduje się niedaleko stąd. Przenoszenie się myślą w przeszłość nie jest dla nas czymś niezwykłym. Najczęściej są to jednak czasy Brutusa, Napoleona lub Lecha Wałęsy i „Solidarności”. Biorąc udział w projekcie „Okruchy pamięci”, cofnęliśmy się w czasie mniej więcej o 100 lat. Nasze liceum istnieje od 111 lat. 100 lat zaś to dokładnie tyle, ile istnieje Trzecia Rzeczpospolita, jesienią tego roku obchodzimy bowiem Stulecie Niepodległości. Równo 100 lat temu, w 1918 r., kobiety w Polsce zyskały prawa wyborcze. Obchodzimy zatem także Stulecie Praw Kobiet.
Ludzie, którzy założyli i pracowali w naszej szkole, tworzyli także historię Warszawy. Pamiętamy o nich zwłaszcza wtedy, gdy zaglądamy do Sali Tradycji. Znajduje się ona w tej części szkoły, która przetrwała wojnę. Połowa budynku ma ponad 100 lat: są tam stare schody, korytarze. To miejsce łączy nas z przeszłością. Jest w naszej szkole swoisty „genius loci”, który od lat wzmacnia zdolności twórcze intelektualne i naukowe jej uczniów. Jednak bez ludzi każde miejsce jest puste. Zatem i miejsce, i ludzi uczyniliśmy częścią naszego projektu. I tak teraźniejszość splata się z przeszłością.

My schoolmates and I were born in 2000. We are the students of the Polish-Classical class in Mikołaj Rej High School number 11, which is not far from here. Moving our thoughts into the past is not unusual for us. Most often, however, these are the times of Brutus, Napoleon or Lech Wałęsa and „Solidarity”. The „Scraps of Memory” project was an opportunity to move back a hundred years. Our school was founded one hundred and seventeen years ago. A hundred years is exactly as many years as the Third Polish Republic has existed. This year in autumn we are to celebrate the Centenary of the Independence of Poland, as well as the Centenary of the Women’s Rights, because women in Poland received electoral rights a hundred years ago, in 1918.
The people who founded and worked in our school also created the history of Warsaw. We remember them especially when we are in the Hall of Tradition. It is located in this part of the school that survived the war. Half of the building is over 100 years old: there are old stairs and corridors. This place connects us with the past. There is a kind of „genius loci” in our school that has been intensifying the artistic sensitivity, intellectual and creative abilities of its students for years. However, without people, every place is empty. Therefore, we made the place and the people part of our project. And so the present connects with the past. The present meets the past.
